U.S. DOE - Buildings Database

The High Performance Buildings Database is research sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy that seeks to improve building performance measuring methods by collecting data on various factors that affect a building's performance, such as energy, materials, and land use. The database collects information from buildings around the world, ranging from homes and commercial interiors to large buildings and even whole campuses and neighborhoods.

U.S. DOE - High Performance Buildings

The High Performance Buildings initiative is a government research program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy that improves the energy efficiency of commercial buildings in the United States. We work with researchers at national laboratories as well as building owners, contractors, private sector engineers, architects, and others involved in commercial building construction to reduce the energy consumption of buildings while improving their quality, occupant comfort, and cost-effectiveness.

U.S. ENERGY STAR - Buildings & Plants

Improving the energy efficiency of the places where we work, play and learn helps us save energy, save money, and fight global warming. Look for facilities that have earned the ENERGY STAR - the national mark of excellence in energy performance - and know with confidence that the facilities are energy efficient and have a smaller carbon footprint.

U.S. ENERGY STAR - New Home Qualification

ENERGY STAR qualified homes can include a variety of "tried-and-true" energy-efficient features that contribute to improved home quality and homeowner comfort, and to lower energy demand and reduced air pollution. To earn the ENERGY STAR, a home must meet strict guidelines for energy efficiency set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. These homes are at least 15% more energy efficient than homes built to the 2004 International Residential Code (IRC), and include additional energy-saving features that typically make them 20–30% more efficient than standard homes.

U.S. EPA - Green Buildings Resource Page

The buildings in which we live, work, and play protect us from nature's extremes, yet they also affect our health and environment in countless ways. As the environmental impact of buildings becomes more apparent, a new field called "green building" is gaining momentum. Green, or sustainable, building is the practice of creating and using healthier and more resource-efficient models of construction, renovation, operation, maintenance and demolition.
