Alternative Energy Institute - West Texas A&M University (AEI)

AEI was formed in 1977 at West Texas State University, Texas, USA, as an outgrowth of wind energy research begun in 1970. AEI's primary emphasis has been placed on wind energy, though certain research and education are also on solar energy. Recognized both nationally and internationally, AEI is proud to be the major information resource of wind energy for the State of Texas.

American Wind Energy Association (AWEA)

With over 1,500 members & advocates, the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) is the hub of the wind energy industry. AWEA is a national trade association representing wind power project developers, equipment suppliers, services providers, parts manufacturers, utilities, researchers, and others involved in the wind industry - one of the world's fastest growing energy industries. In addition, AWEA represents hundreds of wind energy advocates from around the world.

Center for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (CEERE)

CEERE provides technological and economic solutions to environmental problems resulting from energy production, industrial, manufacturing, and commercial activities, and land use practices. Our university based research program is built upon four sub groups with unique abilities to service energy and environmental problems. CEERE offers research, training and educational experiences for graduate and undergraduate engineers and scientists.

Colorado Renewable Energy Society (CRES)

The Colorado Renewable Energy Society (CRES) is a nonprofit membership organization that works for the sensible adoption of cost-effective energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies by Colorado businesses and consumers.

Energy Foundation

The Energy Foundation is a partnership of major donors interested in solving the world's energy problems. Our mission is to advance energy efficiency and renewable energy — new technologies that are essential components of a clean energy future.

Green Energy Council

The IGEC is an international non-profit association comprised of individuals and companies that promote “green” (sustainable) forms of energy production, renewable energy sources, sustainable design practices and advanced thinking in utilizing education and information for the promotion of being better stewards of our environment. We are comprised of renewable energy companies, developers, builders, material suppliers, subcontractors, consultants, lending institutions, utilities, installers, designers, manufacturers, engineers, inspectors, consultants and others involved in and out of the “green” community.

Green Energy Ohio (GEO)

Green Energy Ohio is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting environmentally and economically sustainable energy policies and practices in Ohio. GEO promotes renewable energy (solar, wind, biomass & low-impact hydro) statewide by acting as a clearinghouse to inform Ohioans on sustainable energy.

Illinois Renewable Energy Association

The Illinois Renewable Energy Association (IREA) supports sustainable energy development in Illinois. The IREA provides hands-on opportunities for the Illinois public to learn about the benefits, potentials, and uses of renewable energy and energy-efficiency for our homes and businesses.

Interstate Renewable Energy Council

In its 26th year, the Interstate Renewable Energy Council is a non-profit organization dedicated to moving renewable energy resources into the marketplace. IREC emphasizes education and outreach, stakeholder coordination, technical assistance, workforce development, the adoption and implementation of uniform guidelines and standards, consumer protection and building networks to share experiences and information.

Iowa Renewable Energy Association

The Iowa Renewable Energy Association (I-Renew) is a membership-based, nonprofit organization dedicated to educating Iowans about renewable energy. Founded in 1992, I-Renew has sponsored hands-on workshops on installing solar and wind systems, powered the State Fair, schools, and events with the Solar Traveler, our mobile renewable energy demonstration unit, and hosted our annual Energy Expo, the area's largest event dedicated to renewable energy and energy efficiency.

The list refers to renewable energy in general, as well as solar power, wind power, geothermal energy, biofuel, and hydro-electricity.

Midwest Renewable Energy Association

The Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA) promotes renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable living through education and demonstration.

Montana Renewable Energy Association (MREA)

MREA was established in November 2000 as a nonprofit corporation to support the development of renewable energy in Montana. Specific activities of MREA include expanding the use of renewable energy technologies like solar, wind, small hydro, and geothermal in Montana; affecting public policy in favor of renewable energy; and educating and informing residents of Montana about the benefits and uses of renewable energy.

National Wind Coordinating Collaborative (NWCC)

A U.S. consensus-based collaborative formed in 1994, NWCC identifies issues that affect the use of wind power, establishes dialogue among key stakeholders, and catalyzes appropriate activities to support the development of environmentally, economically, and politically sustainable commercial markets for wind power. NWCC members include representatives from electric utilities and support organizations, state legislatures, state utility commissions, consumer advocacy offices, wind equipment suppliers, green power marketers, environmental organizations, agriculture/economic development organizations, and state and federal agencies.

Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA)

The Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA) is the Northeast’s leading organization of professionals working in sustainable energy, whole-systems thinking and green technologies. NESEA advances the adoption and practical application of sustainable, low carbon energy practices. NESEA accomplishes this through a number of ongoing programs and annual events. NESEA is a proud chapter of the American Solar Energy Association (ASES).

Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance

The Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (NEEA) is a unique partnership among our region's leaders in energy efficiency with the mission to drive the development and adoption of energy-efficient products and services. Working together through NEEA, utilities have a greater influence and lasting impact on the marketplace, helping them reach their energy savings goals. Through this collaboration, NEEA has helped make the Northwest a national leader in energy efficiency.

NREL - National Wind Technology Center

Much of the wind industry's success can be attributed to the research conducted at NREL's National Wind Technology Center (NWTC). Funded by the U.S. Department of Energy Wind Energy Technologies Program, research conducted at the NWTC has led to the development of multi-megawatt wind turbines that produce electricity at a cost that is starting to compete with conventional energy sources in the marketplace.
