The Renewable Energy Research Laboratory (RERL) at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst exists to promote education and research in renewable energy technologies. RERL focuses chiefly on wind energy in New England, including: offshore wind power issues, resource assessment, renewable energy software development, hybrid power systems, wind turbine dynamics and control, and wind farm siting and performance.
Database contains four different categories of wind data: time series of wind characteristics, time series of wind turbine responses, wind resource data and wind farm data.
Wind energy plays an integral role in California's electricity portfolio. In 2007, turbines in wind farms generated 6,802 gigawatt-hours of electricity - about 2.3 percent of the state's gross system power. Additionally, hundreds of homes and farms are using smaller wind turbines to produce electricity. Site contains information and data on wind energy in California.
